Immigration in the United Kingdom: the Nigel Farage shock plan to expel 600,000 illegal immigrants

Nigel Farage Tape of fist on the table. In Oxford, Tuesday, August 26, the leader of the Reform UK party presented his expulsion plan for all the illegal immigrants present in the United Kingdom. In a hungar with aircraft arranged for the occasion and facing an audience of journalists, the tribune first denounced the “Scourge of illegal immigration” who strikes England before giving up a list of measures to ward him off, reports Le Figaro.

To expel “Between 500,000 and 600,000” Migrants in an irregular situation, Nigel Farage proposes to leave the European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR). But also not to apply three other international treaties. He also promised to adopt a special law to create a legal obligation for the Minister of the Interior to return migrants, whatever his political edge. “Failure to comply with this obligation would constitute a violation of the law”he explained.

288,000 evictions per year

If he was appointed Prime Minister, his government would undertake the construction of detention centers within 18 months on military sites that can accommodate 24,000 people, without the possibility of exit. Objective: 288,000 evictions per year. Among the other proposals he has unveiled, another aims to use a background of 2 billion pounds (or 2.3 billion euros) to convince foreign countries to resume their undesirable nationals, including Afghanistan.

Although the Labor Party in power has rejected most of the plan of Nigel Farage, the government has hardened its migration policy in recent months. The Prime Minister, Keir Starmer, notably concluded an agreement on the exchange of migrants with France. In polls, the Labor Party (20 %) is largely preceded by UK reform (28 %). The Conservative Party is 18 %estimated.

In recent weeks, many anti-immigration demonstrations have broken out in the country. They took place mainly in front of the hotels hosting asylum seekers, as in Epping, in the London suburbs. In the summer of 2024, anti-immigration riots had already shaken the country after the murder of three girls in Southport. The assailant was a 17 -year -old teenager of Rwandan origin.
