Towards a lasting resumption of hostilities? In a message published Saturday on his social network Truth Social, the American president Donald Trump threatened to wipe out “the Islamic Republic of Iran” if Washington were forced to carry out new military operations against Tehranwhom he accuses of having violated the ceasefire concluded between the two countries.
The White House tenant announced that American planes had carried out new strikes against missile and drone storage sites and against radar installations on the Iranian coast. According to him, these operations constitute a response to a new violation of the ceasefire agreement by the Iranian authorities. He affirms that in the event of a new American military intervention, the mullahs’ regime “will cease to exist”.
The American army denounces “persistent attacks” of Iran against commercial shipping in the Gulf, accusing Tehran in particular of having attacked the tanker M/T Kiku using an explosive drone.
Iran, for its part, rejects the American accusations and condemns the bombings carried out Friday evening against its territory. In a statement, the Iranian Foreign Ministry describes these strikes as “blatant violation” of the memorandum of understanding concluded with Washington in mid-June, as well as the Charter of the United Nations. The Revolutionary Guards also announced that they had carried out strikes against American positions in the Gulf region in retaliation for American operations. The Iranian ideological army warns that any new attack by the United States will provoke a response of greater magnitude, raising fears of a new regional conflagration.
