In this letter revealed by the North Korean state media, the Russian president praised Pyongyang to send troops to the Ukrainian front line, judging that they had participated in the resumption of the Koursk region.

The Ukrainian army had taken up hundreds of kilometers from this territory a year ago, before the Russians regained control seven months later: “This has been fully proven by the heroic participation of RPDC soldiers (the official name of North Korea, editor’s note) at the release of the territory of the Koursk region of the Ukrainian occupants. »»

A “solid and reliable” friendship

Last April, the North Korean power admitted for the first time having sent soldiers to Ukraine to lend a hand to the Russians. This shipment came a few months after the signing of a defense pact between the two countries last year.

In his letter, Vladimir Putin also remembered the common fight led by Russian and North Korean soldiers to end the Japanese occupation in Korea in 1945. “The links of militant, goodwill and mutual aid who consolidated themselves, during the war a long time ago, remain solid and reliable today”assures the Russian president. He finally promised that Russia and North Korea would continue to “Act jointly and effectively defend their sovereignty”and this, in particular in order to bring “A significant contribution to the establishment of a just and multipolar global order”.
