Blockage of the Strait of Hormuz, rising prices, gas stations stormed… In addition to the numerous deaths and considerable damage in the region, the war in the Middle East is raising fears of fuel supply problems in France. According to a recent CSA survey for CNews, Europe 1 and Tangwall Campagin, 50% of respondents think that “the war in Iran could cause a gasoline shortage in France in the coming weeks ». On the contrary, 49% still want to be confident, while 1% have no opinion.
Women are more concerned about the issue and 56% fear a shortage, compared to 44% of men. The youngest also believe that the lack of fuel is hanging over France’s nose. In fact, 71% of 18-24 year olds, 64% of 25-34 year olds, 56% of 35-49 year olds respond ” Yes “ to the following question: “Do you think that the war in Iran could cause a gasoline shortage in France in the coming weeks? » Older age groups are less worried about the situation, with only 41% of those aged 50-64 and 38% of those aged 65 and over.
Concerning socio-professional categories, the opinion differs little between the CSP+ (47%) and the inactive (49%). However, 56% of CSPs fear a shortage of gasoline in the near future. On the left, 56% of respondents are worried, notably 67% of those close to La France insoumise (LFI), 46% of those of the Socialist Party (PS) and 45% of supporters of the Ecologists. Right-wing voters do not seem more confident (42%): 42% of Republican supporters and 55% of those of the National Rally (RN). The figure drops to 52% if Reconquest voters are added to those of the RN.

On the other hand, respondents close to the common base do not believe in a fuel shortage, particularly those close to Renaissance (63%). This opinion corresponds to the line adopted by the government: while gasoline prices are gradually increasing, from 5 to 15 euro cents on SP95 and from 15 to 20 cents on diesel, the Minister of the Economy, Roland Lescure, wanted to reassure motorists in an interview with Parisian. “We have no supply risk, neither in gas nor in gasoline… in the short term”he declared, recalling that France has strategic oil stocks for three months of consumption.
