Partial legislative elections, “Meetings of the left”, Patrouille de France… The 4 news you will hear about this weekend

The second round of the partial legislative election in the 2nd district of Paris will take place on Sunday September 28, after the Macronist deputy Jean Laussucq was declared ineligible by the Constitutional Council. With 45.15% of the votes, Michel Barnier (LR) came well ahead of the first round, ahead of the socialist Frédérique Bredin (31.66%). Participation remained low, at 26.18%. Thierry Mariani (RN) obtained 7.33%, ahead of Zemmourist candidate Hilaire Bouyé (5.94%). Considered a bastion of the right, the constituency could allow Barnier to become the only LR deputy in the capital, where all the other constituencies are held by the left or the Macronists.

More than 120,000 voters will be called to the polls for the first round of the partial legislative election in the 5th constituency of French people living abroad (Spain, Portugal, Andorra, Monaco) after the invalidation of the mandate of Stéphane Vojetta. Nathalie Coggia, Renaissance candidate supported by Stéphane Vojetta and given favorite, will face Guillaume Horn (PS) and Martha Peciña (LFI), in open competition on the left, as well as Johana Maurel (RN), who intends to confirm her high scores of 2024. Behind these main contenders, twelve other candidates – including LR, Reconquête and Place publique – complete the poster for the September 28 election.

2 – “Meetings of the left” by Carole Delga in Bram

On Saturday September 27, 2025, Bram will host the 5th edition of the Rencontres de la Gauche launched by Carole Delga. Several political figures are expected there, including Boris Vallaud, Raphaël Glucksmann, Olivier Faure, Marine Tondelier and Fabien Roussel. The plenary will focus on the theme “Faced with national disorder, bring together, reform and restore France”. From 9:30 a.m., round tables and workshops will punctuate the morning: reindustrializing France and saving the European Green Deal, meeting the challenges of climate change and food sovereignty, straightening out public accounts while preserving the social model and guaranteeing access to care for all.

A workshop will also be devoted to the municipal elections of March 2026, presented as a key step for the left to respond to the country’s divides in terms of school, housing, mobility, health and security. The day will also be punctuated by conviviality around a bramais cassoulet.

3 – Demonstration of the Patrouille de France in Saint-Jean-de-Luz

From September 25 to 27, 2025, Saint-Jean-de-Luz will live to the rhythm of the sky with a new edition of the Air Meeting. Ahead of the show, an event village set up at Place Foch will offer three days of free entertainment: immersion in a Patrouille de France Alphajet, Mirage 2000 and Mirage F1 simulators, recruitment stands, official store and even an exhibition of paintings by the artist Céline Manetta, painter of Air and Space.

The highlight will be on Saturday September 27 from 4:30 p.m., when the bay will host a major free air show. The public will be able to attend demonstrations by the French Navy, precision jumps by paratroopers from the 1st RPIMa and the Air Force, as well as in-flight presentations of emblematic aircraft such as the Colibri, the Tiger or the Falcon 50. The Aerobatic Flight and the Patrouille de France, always eagerly awaited, will close the show, scheduled until sunset.

4 – Closing of the Loire Festival in Orléans

The Orléans Loire Festival will close this Sunday, September 28, 2025. For its 12th edition, it will bring together nearly 200 boats and hundreds of sailors, making this event the largest European gathering of river shipping. This year, the Alpine lakes – Geneva, Como and Maggiore – will be the guests of honor, with the presence of boatmen and traditional boats from Switzerland and Italy.

On two kilometers of quays, the public will be able to discover various activities: educational workshops on biodiversity, boat construction sites, demonstrations of know-how, shows, night parade and pyrosymphonic show. The festival will end on Sunday September 28 at 3 p.m. with the Grande Parade, a highlight where dozens of traditional boats will parade on the Loire.

5 – The good news of the day

Los Angeles inaugurates an exceptional exhibition to celebrate 50 years of JawsSteven Spielberg’s masterpiece which, upon its release in 1975, redefined the thriller and propelled its young 27-year-old director to the top of Hollywood. On display at the Oscars Museum until July 26, 2026, the exhibition retraces the eventful genesis of the film, which almost cost Spielberg his career before becoming a global triumph, crowned with three Oscars.

More than 200 pieces are collected: production notes, costumes, unpublished photos, filming objects and of course “Bruce”, the eight-meter model of the shark. Visitors will even be able to replay John Williams’ legendary musical theme or approach certain cult accessories. For Spielberg, now 78 years old, this retrospective feels like time travel: he said he was amazed to see artifacts resurface like the buoy from the opening scene, miraculously preserved. A true cinematic treasure hunt that pays homage to a film that has become legendary.
