This Tuesday, October 21, at the opening of the voting session of the European Parliament in Strasbourg, Marion Maréchal raised her voice against Rima Hassan. The MP from the ECR group reacted virulently to a controversial publication by the rebellious MP on social networks. The day before, Rima Hassan had relayed an article evoking “Hamas’ tracking down of groups that collaborated with the Israeli army” in the Gaza Strip, accompanying his sharing of the comment: “One by One” – “One after the other”. For the record, Hamas carried out a campaign of reprisals against rival clans last week, executing several people suspected of collaboration with Israel.
In a particularly firm intervention, Marion Maréchal accused her colleague of “gloat over the images of summary executions of civilians committed in Gaza by Hamas terrorists”. She described the message of Insoumise as “ satisfied and chilling comment »which she assimilates to “an incitement to murder”. Continuing her remarks, the president of the Identity-Libertés party recalled that France had “generously” welcomed the family of Rima Hassan as refugees, before urging them to “to return to where (she considers herself) at the house of (She) ». Marion Maréchal concluded by inviting her rival to join “Hamas that (YOU) love so much » and to “to taste, as a woman, the bitter delight of being a woman among the Islamists”.
According to those close to her, Marion Maréchal obtained a reminder of the rules on the basis of article 10, which provides that “MPs preserve the dignity of the European Parliament and do not damage its reputation”. The tensions between the two elected officials are not new. A close friend of Marion Maréchal reports that a previous exchange had already degenerated: when Marion Maréchal had described Rima Hassan as “Paper Frenchwoman”the latter would have retorted to him, in front of the hemicycle: “The paper Frenchwoman, she annoys you”.
