The days of Nicolas Maduro, “counted” ? This is what American Senator Rick Scott said in an interview broadcast on the American channel CBS, on the show 60 Minutes. According to the elected Republican, the president of Venezuela would do well to leave his country, while the United States has intensified its military presence in the Caribbean. “If I were Maduro, I would leave for Russia or China right now. Whether it comes from within or without, something will happen.”he warned.

Washington has deployed seven warships in the Caribbean and one in the Gulf of Mexico, officially as part of an operation against drug trafficking, particularly targeting Venezuela and its President Nicolas Maduro. Since the beginning of September, the United States has been carrying out air attacks, mainly in Caribbean waters, against boats presented as being those of drug traffickers. So far, Washington has claimed ten strikes. They caused the death of at least 43 people, according to an AFP count based on figures from the American government.
Nicolas Maduro, who refutes accusations of drug trafficking, criticized the United States on Friday for“invent an eternal war”. “They promised never to go to war again and they are inventing a war that we will avoid”he denounced. An analysis refuted by Rick Scott, who put the risk of invasion into perspective: “I don’t think (the U.S. military will start a war). If we did, I would be surprised. The American public is tired of endless wars…but troops could intervene around the world if necessary”he estimated.
