The Tangwall Campagin. Removing ZFE, moratorium on wind turbines … The wind turns?
François-Xavier Bellamy. Of course. Finally, we come out of the ideological agenda that had taken the cause of the environment hostage to impose a draft decline and constraint. I am relieved that the abolition of the ZFE was adopted: parliamentarians avoided a social disaster which would have, in reality, had no environmental or sanitary benefit. We are always opposed to the figure of 40,000 dead per year due to automotive pollution, which has however been denied several times. But the elected socialist, green, macronists who defend the ZFEs, are those who have continued to campaign against nuclear energy.
In Germany, it is environmentalists who have extended the gigantic coal mines, whose pollution makes thousands of deaths each year in France and throughout Europe … And the same then explain to the French driver that his Clio is responsible for climate change? The French see that we are walking on the head! Today we are starting to put politics back on.
Does the rightization of the European Parliament serve a real change of course?
As I had predicted during the European election, our family, that of the European right, won the elections, and the change of course is already there. In the previous mandate, we had a majority in front of us that went from macronists to the far left. We alerted to normative asphyxiation imposed on industry, farmers, fishermen, craftsmen; We were opposed to moral lessons. Today, the left has no majority: we can finally implement the change we have promised. With first victories: two of the most harmful directives for our companies have been suspended. Our car manufacturers had to pay 16 billion fines on the grounds that consumers do not buy enough electric vehicles: we have prevented this madness. We work on a large simplification train, through the “omnibus”, these texts which return to existing legislation to simplify it. It is a great movement of deregulation – I am not afraid of the word!
“The PPE is not a technical arbitration, it is a crucial political problem”
Do you feel like you have preached for a long time in the desert?
No, the French were already with us! It was our leaders who refused to listen. For example, I had managed to gain a majority to include nuclear in the 250 billion of the European Repuowreu plan; But it was the French government that dropped this asset. I continue to fight for technological neutrality: the multiplication of wind turbines and solar panels is, in particular in France, a total aberration. If you already have a decarbon mix thanks to nuclear, there is no reason why intermittent renewables are an objective in itself. The giant breakdown suffered by Spain shows what result leads this ideology.
What concerns you in the massive investments of PPE 3: the social impact? Budget?
This trajectory is absurd from an economic and social point of view, but also industrial, and even environmental! The PPE is not a technical arbitration, it is a crucial political problem. In France as in Europe, the objective must be to decarbonize electricity, to guarantee the security of supply at a controlled cost for households, but also for companies: the price of electricity is an absolutely major issue for the industrial revival of France. We will not find prosperity or sovereignty, if we do not invest in the future of a coherent energy mix
