In a statement, the Malian Ministry of Foreign Affairs denounced “The persistence of acts of interference” of Algeria, accusing him of supporting “Terrorist groups”while Bamako faces a Tuareg rebellion in the north of the country, said France 24. He recalled that “The strategic options for the fight against terrorist armed groups, supported by foreign state sponsors, are exclusively of the sovereignty of Mali”from Burkina Faso and Niger, with whom Bamako has created a Confederation. The predominantly Tuareg groups, several times raised in the past, had resumed arms in 2012 for independence or autonomy of the North.
