“Everyone wants to fight us”: a Russian MP urges Moscow to prepare for a clash with NATO

As the conflict in Ukraine continues, a Russian official is already raising the prospect of a new war. Viktor Sobolev, communist deputy of the Duma and former senior officerbelieves that Russia must succeed in putting an end to the Ukrainian conflict before 2030 in order to be able to strengthen its military capabilities in the face of a possible confrontation with NATO, reports The Parisian.

For Viktor Sobolev, several European states could represent a direct threat to Moscow. He cites in particular the Poles, the Germans, the French, the British, the Belgians, the Norwegians, the Finns and the Swedes. “Everyone wants to fight Russia and inflict a strategic defeat on it”he says.

“Of course, there is an informational aspect, mainly aimed at their own populations that they are preparing for war, but there are also serious preparations for war against Russia”he assures. For this reason, he believes that Moscow will absolutely have to achieve victory in Ukraine before the end of the decade: “By 2030, we must have completed the special military operation in Ukraine with a victory for our armed forces. »
