The escalation continues between Washington and Tehran. After a new series of US strikes against Iran on Tuesday, the second in days, Iranian forces launched a response targeting several US military installations in the region. “A decisive operation carried out by the Iranian armed forces in response to the American enemy has begun”announced the Iranian Tasnim agency. “US bases and interests in the region are being targeted by Iranian missiles and drones. »
The Revolutionary Guards notably claimed responsibility for attacks against American bases in Jordan, Iraq and Bahrain. Kuwait also said it had been targeted by missiles and drones, while the Jordanian army claimed to have intercepted ten missiles fired from Iran. Three others crashed away from populated areas, causing no injuries. Tehran also claims to have struck the Ali al-Salem air base, Kuwaitused by the American army. In a press release relayed by Tasnim, the Revolutionary Guards claim to have destroyed drones as well as a launching pad and to have targeted the “residence of the American commander”, “killing several enemies”. These assertions have not yet been confirmed by the United States.
This response comes after a new round of American strikes in Iran. “US forces hit Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps targets”indicated the US Middle East Command (Centcom). According to Washington, air defense sites, radars and maritime installations were notably targeted. Iranian state media report at least eleven deaths in these strikes. Four people were reportedly killed at a wedding in the Hormozgan region in the southeast of the country, where around 50 others were injured. Seven people also died in the Khuzestan region in the west, according to the same sources.
Donald Trump had warned Tehran of the consequences of a possible response. If Iran “retaliates to this perfectly justified attack, he will be hit again, much harder and stronger”had threatened the American president on Truth Social. Tehran, however, in turn toughens its tone. Iranian Central Military Command spokesman Ebrahim Zolfaghari promised “broader and more destructive responses” if American operations continued. He also addressed this warning to “any country cooperating with the aggressive US military”.
