In front of the monumental sculptures of George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Abraham Lincoln and Theodore Roosevelt, he first exalted the “American miracle” before designating what he considers to be the new threats weighing on the country.
Donald Trump claimed that “our American identity is today the target of a new offensive”then evoking a “resurgence of the communist threat” which he attributes to “new arrivals in our country who defend ideas that are totally incompatible with our way of life”, reports Le Figaro.
“A mortal threat”
The head of state then adopted a more offensive tone by presenting communism as a major danger for the United States. According to him, “Communism is a mortal threat to American freedom.” It would represent “death, tyranny and the pursuit of evil”either “the exact opposite of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness”. The tenant of the White House also did not hesitate to accuse his opponents of “not loving God” and of “not wanting religion”. In this speech with a strong patriotic tone, Donald Trump assured that the United States “will quickly defeat communism”.
Continuing in the same tone, Donald Trump said: “We won’t let them linger too long (…)and we will send them into exile. We will expel them quickly, and we will continue to build our country to be bigger, better and stronger than ever. » The American president is due to continue the celebrations this Saturday July 4 with a meeting on the National Mall esplanade in Washington, in the middle of the electoral campaign a few months before the midterms. The day will end with a fireworks display which he presents as “the largest in the world”with nearly 850,000 rockets.
