Secret tunnels to bring migrants into Europe: the worrying discovery in Poland

An alarming find. According to an investigation by Telegraphrelayed by The ExpressPolish authorities have reportedly discovered several tunnels dug between Belarus and Poland. Belarus, under the aegis of Russia, is said to have attempted to transport tens of thousands of people to the border. “Officers of the Podlaskie Border Guard Unit discovered a total of four tunnels under the border with Belarus, all in 2025”detailed Lieutenant Colonel Katarzyna Zdanowicz at Telegraph.

According to senior officials, Russia and Belarus have benefited from technical support from the Middle East, with a “high level of expertise” to build them. Among the groups capable of erecting such infrastructures would be Hamas, Hezbollah, certain Kurdish factions, and even the Islamic State.

Surveillance device circumvention strategy

“One of the things we immediately noticed after the 2006 Lebanon War was parades of mixer trucks lining up in southern Lebanon…We were seeing considerable amounts of Iranian tunnel construction”explained American military historian Lynette Nusbacher. And to add: “We also have ample evidence that Hamas was doing the same in Gaza. »

The largest tunnel was discovered near the village of Narewka, in a forested area in northeastern Poland. 60 meters long, including 10 located in Polish territory, it would have allowed 180 migrants from Afghanistan and Pakistan to cross the border. Consolidated by concrete and not exceeding one meter and fifty in height, the work illustrates, according to Warsaw, a strategy for circumventing its surveillance devices: thermal cameras, underground detection systems and a 200-kilometer fence erected since mid-2022 along the Belarusian border.
