“Imperialist interventions”: LFI winds against Israeli-American strikes in Iran

The reaction of La France insoumise (LFI) was quick. This Saturday morning, Israel and the United States carried out strikes against Tehran. Iran was quick to respond by targeting the Jewish state in turn. Explosions were also heard in Gulf states, such as in Bahrain where a US base in the country was hit in “a missile attack”according to local authorities.

For the rebels, Iran was attacked by Israel. “The United States and Israel have started a war against Iran. What are their objectives? » asks Jean-Luc Mélenchon, who believes that this conflict pushes “the region and then the whole world are more on the verge of a global tragedy”. The founder of the far-left party thus calls on the French government to “refuse war” and to “not help in any way”.

An “illegal war”

Same story with the national coordinator of the Mélenchonist movement, Manuel Bompard, for whom “France cannot remain silent” and must “condemn those who take the path of war rather than negotiation”. For her part, the head of LFI deputies Mathilde Panot evokes “an illegal war against Iran” and points to the responsibility of Israel and the United States, which “threaten world peace”.

“For several decades, all imperialist interventions in this region have been traced back to oil and the geostrategic interests of the United States and its allies. Each time, all peoples were victims”for his part declared MP Éric Coquerel on X.

Rima Hassan is more offensive: “Israel is AGGRESSING Iran. There is no preventive war, only aggression from a criminal state working to destroy the entire region. »
