“Meloni like Kirk”: the president of the Italian Council targeted by death threats

Giorgia Meloni raises her voice after the discovery of graffiti and messages comparing her to Charlie Kirk, a conservative activist recently assassinated in the United States. “They wrote it as a threat. But those who experience hatred and intimidation will never be like Charlie Kirk, because they do not know the value of dialogue, debate and democracy.she wrote this Thursday on X. Being compared to him is a reason for pride: Kirk has made his life a fight for freedom of thought. »

And the President of the Italian Council sends a moral warning to her detractors: “Those who write threats on walls will always remain prisoners of violence. We will continue to move forward free, strong in our ideas. » As a reminder, Charlie Kirk, 31, was shot and killed while debating, as he usually did, on a university campus in Utah, Wednesday September 10.

A list of people to kill

Just a few hours after this tragedy, a wave of hateful messages spread on social networks against the victim (first of all) and then other conservative figures – Giorgia Meloni being the latest example. An Internet user presenting himself under the name of Sam notably published on X a list of individuals “which he would like to see eliminated”citing international figures – Donald Trump, Benjamin Netanyahu, Elon Musk – as well as French and European figures, including Jordan Bardella.

Abject comments seeming to confirm the diagnosis of the American president, who accused the speeches of the “radical left” of having contributed to the murder of Charlie Kirk, calling him “martyr of truth and freedom”.

“For years, the radical left has compared great Americans like Charlie to Nazis and the world’s worst criminals and mass murderers. This kind of rhetoric is directly responsible for the terrorism we are experiencing in our country today, and it must stop immediately.”he insisted in a video published on his Truth Social network shortly after the tragedy.
